Has anyone been up to the Aircraft boulder yet this spring? Wondering if it is still possible to access with the construction project?

I'm also interested in the construction, and also the general conditions at the Aircraft Carrier and the Kluttergarden right now.

Sorry, I don't have any info myself, so...

bump, I guess?

The KG is good to go! It's a little muddy in places but pretty much all the snow is gone, special thanks to the dedicated locals for shoveling. Bring some bug dope the mosquito's are huge. Not sure about the A.C.C. because it's so overhung and shaded.

Conditions at Homestake, Gilman, are pretty dry. Kluttergarden is moist in spots but drying up fast although we are supposed to get some rain snow this next week. Because of work on the dam, Homestake has a gate across the road about 100 yards before the bridge that crosses the creek. This gate is supposed to be up until October 2013. Shouldn't affect you too bad. I would still bring a tarp for the Aircraft carrier just in case.

Can anyone offer a camping advisement for sites near the Kluttergarden? I don't mind driving or paying a fee if there is something scenic around the area. Any insights are appreciated. Thanks!

I'm assuming that you've never been there, but it is ALL pretty much camping in that area by the kluttergarden 2-5 minute walk at worst. You can either park down by the road, or if you have 4x4 you can drive up to the campsites. They are all along the dirt road. The road is not too bad, but there is one crux where it would help to have some offroading experience.

Please make sure not to leave unattended fires and make sure to TOTALLY put them out (assuming there is no fire ban at the time). This is a very dry area that has no mitigation. Very combustible.

Me in the Buddha Cave at crumblewood a while ago.

You can camp directly at the kluttergarden as there are a number of pull-off sites on the 4x4 road or it is just a short hike. Decent sites, not the most scenic but very convenient.

Just found this place that is an established forest service campground near there (pay), I have not idea if it is any good: www.fs.usda.gov/recarea/whiteriver/recreation/camping-cabins>>>

Looks like there may be some climbing along Homestake RD just south of the klutergarden as well and another established campground. www.fs.usda.gov/recarea/whiteriver/recreation/camping-cabins>>>
