Some of the peaks in this area are restricted (not all). See the Inyo National Forest's Mount Whitney Zone regulations webpage fs.usda.gov/detail/inyo/pas… for current information. Access is usually limited from May to October of every year from the highest elevations of most of the Lone Pine Creek watershed.
Description
From the pine tree marking the started of The Winged Horse, traverse left approximately 100' until cracks can be seen leading to the lower left corner of the scimitar-shaped roof. Pitch 1: Climb cracks to a ledge immediately to the left of the scimitar-shaped roof. Pitch 2: Traverse the roof to the opposite corner. Pitch 3 & 4: Climb cracks directly to the summit.
