Join the tribe fore the annual get-together at Taix Restaurant Los Angeles, CA (1911 W Sunset BLVD, Los Angeles, CA 90026). The guest speaker this year will be Mountain Hardwear athlete Freddie Wilkinson. An award winning alpinist, mountaineer, and author, Freddie has established new hard routes the world across. He is the author of "One Mountain Thousand Summits: The Untold Story of Tragedy and True Heroism on K2."

Freddie will be presenting, “Mountain/Story,” which weaves tales of Freddie’s own adventures with the stories of those who inspire him and features some of the most visually-stunning mountain photography ever captured. It focuses on four unknown climbing Sherpas who were at the heart of the 2008 K2 tragedy and the incredible legacy of explorer, cartographer, and aerial photographer Bradford Washburn’s work in the mountains of Alaska. In the course of these investigations, new routes get climbed on Kangtega and the Mooses Tooth, with much hilarity and high-jinx along the way. The show is presented with the generous support of Mountain Hardware and Clif Bar.

About Freddie:
Freddie Wilkinson is a climber, writer, guide, and filmmaker based in the White Mountains of New Hampshire. He has made numerous first and notable ascents and has written insightfully about climbing and mountains for numerous publications. See, for example, “The Sanctity of Space” (Alpinist 41), about Freddie’s first ascent of the Tooth Traverse in Alaska’s Ruth Gorge. Freddie was the 2007 recipient of the AAC’s Bates Award, for outstanding accomplishment by a young climber. Those who attended last year’s show with Steve Swenson will remember that Freddie, along with Steve and Mark Richey, made first ascent of Saser Kangri II for which they received a Piolet d’Or and about which Freddie made the film “The Old Breed.” He also is the author of the book “One Mountain Thousand Summits,” about the 2008 tragedy on K2. The dinner kicks off with a no-host bar at 6:00pm with dinner beginning at 7:00pm.
Tickets are $40 with all proceeds going to benefit the American Alpine Club. There will also be a Raffle and silent auction.
