Description

Sandstone boulders V0-V3. This is a good place to stop while on a road trip. Not a destination.

Getting There

Rock City is about 20 minutes north of Salina, Kansas. From I-70 go north on 81 to 18 go east on 18 about 6 miles to 106, go right on 106, after about 5 miles on 106 go left on the dirt road to Rock City. There are signs on 106.

This place is pretty fun. Locals were quirky...My girls and I stopped here for an hour or so whilst jamming cross country. Albeit it was spring and not terribly hot, but we had a blast bouldering and I got a break from driving!

Just FYI, it is located on private property and did cost about 2-3 dollars to enter, about a year ago.

This place is for real. I live in the Twin Cities with loads of climbing and I found some problems that really pushed my limits. Climbed for a solid 3 hours. Could have spent the whole day there.

So true. This is an unheralded spot on the prairie deserving more praise than it receives. It could be the best bouldering in Kansas!
