Description Suggest change

The Haute Savoie department of France is most famous with climbers for containing Mont Blanc, the highest peak in (non-far-east) Europe, and all the alpine climbing around Chamonix. But it's also got a lifetime or two or sport climbing.

Its department code in the French government is 74.

Some of the main regions for climbers are:
  • Lac d'Annecy
  • Aravis mountain group
  • Borne mountain group
  • Arve river valley
. . . which contains the crag of Le Fayet near St-Gervais - [see this page]

Getting There Suggest change

Closest major airport is GVA Geneva Switzerland. Also LYS Lyon France. Of course abundant transportation options from Paris.

Convenient to drive from northwest Italy through the Tunnel of Mont Blanc. Or from the upper Rhone valley of Switzerland through Martigny over Col de la Forclaz and Col des Montets.
