Looks awesome. Maybe it goes without saying... which is why no one is talking about it.

Meh, it was okay. I did like that women were a bit of the focus of the films though. Personally I am much more jazzed about smaller independent films instead of the canned package.

Agreed. It was good, but it has been better. I would still recommend going, it's worth seeing. The shop that always sponsors the showing here always does a bunch of fun giveaways and it always seems to gather a lot of friends and acquaintances that you haven't seen in a while, which makes the whole event a good time.

Doo Doo Delight was funny as hell. Pretty rad style of climbing those guys were pushing!

I thought Dodos Delight was okay, though then narration annoyed the hell out of me. I actually thought the first half was better. The Kai / Ashima segment was funny and entertaining, and the boys working that 5.14 crack in the bugs was awesome.

the song haunts me while climbing as well, without warning.

The other thing I enjoyed about this years films was that most of them did not take themselves very seriously. There was an element of the absurdity of it all in there. The dodos were not defining pi, or finding a cure for cancer, and they knew it. They were just having a lot of fun.

This year was my first going to a Reel Rock showing. I really enjoyed it - but maybe that had something to do with the crowd here in Portland OR. Was great that everybody there (maybe 200+ people?) collectively reacted to different parts of the show. For example, the whole group gasped at the extremely hard/impressive moves that you probably couldn't differentiate from merely difficult ones if you weren't a climber. Really gave a good feeling of community. And it was funny pretty much the entire time - we remarked at the end that our faces hurt from smiling.

I just wish I could watch the previous ones without paying $20/pop from their website...

Saw it last night. Kind of a let down. I thought the films were discombobulated, and not one of them was a real take-home champion. The amount of immaturity and unimportant themes (except maybe for the ones about the teenage climbers), was a drag on my conscience. What a bunch of irresponsible, professionally sponsored idiots, not having any relation to the real world whatsoever, and whining the whole time.

I can see where you're coming from - aside from the young guns vid, they weren't tales of heroes to aspire to. But... they were fun. Sure, a couple of the characters were a bit ridiculous - especially Brett and the "rad dad" guy... But I liked that the characters in the films were all just people - people who looked like they were having a lot of fun in their own way. If not particularly inspiring, I think they were a great example of how climbing can be an all around fun experience. Doesn't have to be all hard work.

Also I'd rather watch RR11 again than any of the "blockbuster" movies that came out this year...
