Chain Draws at the Peaks?
|
Chain draws have shown up on some routes at the Peaks. These routes are not hard to clean and do not need chain draws hanging. Please remove your clutter. Thanks. |

Where are the Peaks? Is there a guidebook you could point me to? |

Mmmmmmm, time to get some popcorn. |

If trying to make sure access to an area isn't impacted makes me a dad, then I hope "you kids" grow up and can clean up after yourselves. Fixed draws have a place but it's not on slightly overhung 5.11s in a wilderness area with a history of access issues. I like climbing up there and my priority is access and the wilderness experience. Also I didn't take the draws, I was giving whoever put them up there the chance think about possible issues and make a big kid decision. |

I have only seen fixed chain draws on a very difficult route just to the left of the 5.11 route called Be the Burn now on MP. The difficulty of the route shouldn't be the only factor in the decision about whether or not chain draws are necessary. They are extremely ugly. Obviously, hanging draws on that route in the steep section while climbing would be difficult. Cleaning them while lowering is a bit of a pain, just like on Be the Burn. However, you can pre-place the draws on that hard route while lowering off Be the Burn if you give yourself a directional under the top overhang of the Be the Burn. Cleaning them is not dangerous. |

Thought this was settled: |

The chain draws on Control Burn are mine. I put them up as project draws for the season, as my non-chain project draws have been stolen in the past. My intent was not to leave them as "permadraws" but to use them as project draws for the season. |
