I have had mine for two years and it looks new. It's simple cozy and you can have it customized however you want it. I am hiking climbing and skiing and using this pack for everything. It's a little more money but I have zero regrets. The padding is a sleeping pad and I commonly carry it stupidly heavy and it distributes the weight just right.
Does it have an internal frame?

The Cold Cold World packs have a removable 2'x2'x3/8" foam pad folded in half...no metal stays.

I hear ya!
I won't buy any pack that weighs nearly 5 lbs by itself though (creek 50)...that's what I'm getting away from now.
The Gorge looks nice but above 200 bucks is out of my price range.

I just ordered and loaded up a Lowe Alpine Attack and all I have to say is...
WTF were they thinking when they put a limp shoelace-like hip belt like this on a fantastic pack? Zero hip belt support on a 45-55L pack!
A BIG thumb down! Otherwise it's the only top loader I've loaded without any issues thus far.

Time to return this mess!

Do you still have the receipt?

I don't lol I bought a house in upstate NY and it was in the attic. It looks like somebody bought the bag took the tags off and never looked at it again.

Earlier this season I bought a BD Creek 50 and totally love it! It's the perfect pack, IMHO.

Mark, what did you pay for that BD Creek 50? The appear to be discontinued at REI and other places now.

For myself, like both the Cilogear Hauley 60L, and the Metolius Crag station.

Well I finally settled on an Osprey Variant 52L paxk. Fit beautifully!

+1 for the BD Creek. I also consider it the perfect crag pack. Definitely a quiver pack, best for hauling gear to crags within one hour or less from road. I would use a lighter pack for alpine and everything else but I think day to day cragging is tough on packs so that is why the burly Creek is the best grad crag pack that I have used. It stands upright like a haul bag but has a full length zipper making loading a rope bag struggleless (new word I invented).

I love Cold Cold World packs too but the Creek is so much better featured for cragging. Carries heavy loads better too.

I bought it in Yosemite this fall. Somewhere around $225.

When I check dealer login the creek 50 still shows, just currently out of stock. When they discontinue an item it's usually taken off the catalog. I'd assume there is just a production delay.

The Creek 50 is not discontinued, but BD does seem to be selling out of their shipments with the quickness. Best advice is to get on that list and buy that sucker ASAP when it comes back.

I had the Creek 30, and now use the Creek 50. Overall design is probably the best of any cragbag I've had. Only issue was a couple busted buckles, but BD sent me replacements immediately.

I really really like my BD stone 45. It is just the right size to fit a trad rack, rope, water, food, and med kit for a day. It also has a zip all the way down the side so you can access gear near the bottom without getting everything out. It also has a fairly nice suspension system that it carries 30-40 pounds no problem.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
