Minor defect on the stitching - dangerous?
Recently I purchased a 18 mm nylon runner 120cm |
It is fine. It is the end of the last stitch. |
highly dangerous. Please PM me for the address to send them to for proper disposal. |
Mike...why don't you contact the manufacturer and ask their EXPERT opinion?? |
I've never been failed by the "if it's only probably ok, then ditch it.." method. But. That is definitely ok so it doesn't apply. |
Definitely ok. If you're worried about the thread coming loose (it won't) quickly touch a flame to it to melt it down. |

At the risk of being snarky, this question has raised gear paranoia to whole 'nuther level. |

Anyway, to the rest of you guys, thanks for letting me know that it's safe. Appreciated. |

Benjamin Chapman wrote:Mike...why don't you contact the manufacturer and ask their EXPERT opinion??Ben, I am a really socially dumb person, so I don't know whether you are being ironic, or claiming that the manufacturer doesn't know crap about their equipment. Please explain. |

I tend to be less on the side of caution with stuff like this but it just doesn't sit right with me. I'd ask the manufacturer. If anything is wrong with it they'll send you a new one |

MikeMills wrote:The problem I have is with the stitching connecting two ends of the loop. In four of them the end of the thread is captured by a little loop. One them however (the first one) has a loose end and an empty loop (please see the photo attached). I am worried that the thread may come undone. Is this just a minor defect with no real danger associated or something to worry about. Thank you. It's not a defect at all - that's normal manufacturing process. Your slings will eventually become far more nicked and fuzzy from use. |

Mike....why don't you call the manufacturer? They have the knowledge, the liability exposure, and the experts to answer your question. Why wouldn't you call the experts that make and test the gear instead of soliciting opinions on the web? No agenda, no sarcasm, no irony, just a straight honest response. If where's really an issue with the nylon runner/dogbone I'm sure the company would appreciate knowing about it. If it was your car wouldn't you call the dealer/manufacturer?? |
I contacted the manufacturer. When I get the answer I'll let you guys know what they said. |

So. Quick update. I sent it in for an inspection. They said it's fine, but will exchange it anyway. Haven't received the replacement yet. Very impressed with BD customer service, great contact, polite, very helpful, super fast response. Great company. |
