I did not research the exact intention of the obese American Beauty spoof. Perhaps it serves to help change the image of obese women in today's society and the concept of beauty. I suppose I am tired of social media, or how people are prone to throw out ambiguous slogans to the masses without backing it up with thoughtful responses or reliable information. I only hope to help others, and by doing so positively impact others to do the same. I feel that men have been screwing over women for eons of time, and that we have finally evolved to a point where it can soon come to an end. It is so incredibly easy to spray some 5 second verbal garbage to illicit a response for the sake of a reaction. Logically this leads to the misinterpretation and misrepresentation of truth. My passion gets the best of me sometimes, I am in full support of pragmatic discussion and being open minded, with a willingness to learn and adapt and change. I do however wholly refuse to spend minutes of my short life on earth researching the exact meaning of "milkshakes."
Ahhh! Milkshake is interesting, too! Originally from a song lyric, and has shifted from the very first way it was associated (based on uncensored lyrics), to boobs shaking to entice men, to just females strutting their stuff, more or less, and so on.

Yes, I am easily distracted. I did at least mow the lawn.

More seriously, I also have always seen multiple possibilities, so much so that I had a hard time taking multiple answer tests in school. I could always work out ways the other answers had some correctness to them, even math.

I also have been around long enough to know the harm of "us" versus "them", BUT, that is also what triggers the non firebrands, most of us, into pondering the issue at hand, and maybe, just maybe, considering it from the, gasp, OTHER, point of view. Especially when "those people" gasp, THEM, are becoming human to you. And, crap, crap, crap, then you discover you share a passion for something, then you find out you share some difficulties....well, hell. Now we're stuck being friends. Bother and damnation.

Yeah I didn't want to scare anyone:/ When I was writing that comment I thought "Man, this reads really weird." Did it read good? I always liked non sequiturs. Although, I know this topic can get quite touchy. I apologize if it's like that...

Almost...but not quite. Woulda worked really well right next to the great thrift store video in...??? $800 sweater thread? "Beaver" *tail", bungie cord, yeah, maybe a little too wtf, but, still...I almost liked it. Did you read the short story in the community forum? Pretty good, worth the read. Sorry it doesn't seem to be getting many hits.

Actually, all the little odd pictures begged some real stories! Most of the bits are definitely interesting, and would/could make a Vonnegut-ish sort of read, if you reined in a bit and then expanded. PM me if you have something rolling around out in the lit world. I'd definitely read it. :-)

Maybe we should just all vote for Trump just to see if we can get the party started in the right fashion.

Damn, I got trolled again.

Is it highly male dominated when women are pulling moves whilst actually in contact with the rock?

If the answer is no, what's the difference between this debate and any other on Wellesley campus?

If the answer is yes then I don't care because there's nothing I can do.

It also happens in the mountains.

Paraphrasing: "I’m articulate and have other attributes that people are interested in besides just ovaries, but it’s a double-edged sword. I benefit from it."

Great little interview! What a cool gal. Here is a great quote:
"climbing is one of those really beautiful things that’s not gender-weighted"

So true! Women and men are truly on equal footings. So neat.

On the other hand, assuming a couple in the gym are dating/spouses isn't lowering or changing anyone's status, it's just an (mistaken) assumptions about the relationship between the two people. Spouses are equals, so this shouldn't be insulting.
Nice to hear equality in a relationship is assumed now. That is still not universal, depending on who you ask.

Mr. Dankasaurus:
I can't believe you would post a question like this.

I believe all rational adult climbers would most emphatically agree that climbing is a male dominated sport, indoor or outdoor.

This applies to any location at any time. Saying anything otherwise is reduction to absurdity.

This whole "debate" is highly specific, not to be confused or considered relative to "other things and stuff going on."

The fact that you are so quick to say that you don't care, or that there's nothing you can do, is evidence supporting that you simply don't give a shit.

This mentality and worldview hurts other people.

Climbing may always have more male participants than female participants, that's not the point.

The point is to, as a man, take a few moments out of your busy life and reflect on what it is like for women.

The vast majority of women just want to climb and be treated like regular climbers.

They don't need a bunch of bullshit from other men.

Such reflection may help you better understand, which then may lead to positive reform.

The only person you can change is yourself, then in turn you can help positively influence others.

There is a time and a place for joking around, believe me I love joking around.

Although you make some valid points regarding the voluntary nature of the survey, this "open letter" quickly veers into the realm of "if I haven't noticed it, it doesn't exist." Now, I have actually seen blatant sexual harassment of a female climber at a climbing area, but that's beside the point. Unless you have a better survey you want to cite, your intuitive sense of how often women are getting harassed it basically meaningless.
I'm not going to go through your essay point by point but a lot of what you cite as normal human behavior just betrays your ignorance of changing sexual norms. There was a time when it was considered acceptable for men to approach random women in everyday life that they find attractive and attempt to converse with them for no other reason than that they find them attractive. This is no longer the case. If you want to find women to flirt with, there are about 100 dating websites created for that exact reason, climbing gyms are for climbing and men need to learn that the random women they come across are not acceptable targets for their sexual advances merely by virtue of their being in a public space. Looking at booty shorts is a 'micro-aggression' LOLZ

No one wears 2 ounces of fabric on their butt because they need to; it is because they want people to look.

but if you do: micro-aggression you misogynist pig-fvcker!

The title should be 'How Gender Affects Your Experience at the Gym'

Try this 'study' at Planet Fitness, I'd love to see those numbers

Now it is 10/16/16 Think i'll just leave you all a like to a thread that fits right in

First we should all observe that this publication is there to make money not reveal truth. This argument only shows the hypocrisy that is our current world. The same people that say we should follow nature and eat natural and we need to get back to nature are fighting our most basic instincts. While we can all agree there are plenty of douches in the world the rest of us horrible men are simply human. To chastise a man for being attracted to a female wearing clothing that leaves no nook or crannie untraced is ridiculous. Nature is nature. It also happens to be a fact that men grow larger muscles that women. By design women are weaker that is not sexist it's science. That doesn't set the value of a person only that we are different. I've been climbing since 95 and have seen very few unwarranted advances on females at the crag it's unfortunate but this is life we have to deal with these things. It may help females to change their perspective of compliments. I was recently told by a lady at least 15 years my elder that my wearing shorts was giving her hot flashes, I didn't freak out I shrugged it off and laughed about it as I walked away. We are human both sexes are attracted to each other in all manner of ways. This is supposed to be a "sport" of adventure not for so many timid and delicate in their feelings.

This inspires me to start a thread called "Ask a badass, Davila Gurian". I was afraid REI would ban me from the internet so I didn't do it.
