Hey guys, I am going to be in Burlington in about two weeks and am going to go for a day trip to Smuggs. I made myself a little ticklist, but it would be nice if I could get my hands on a guidebook since my grandparents are coming I definitely want to know how to get to all of the climbs on my list. Just an FYI, I cannot afford the New England Bouldering Guidebook, so a cheaper book that involves Smuggs would be awesome. I'm not asking for a guidebook, I'm asking if there are any guidebooks still in print! Thanks!

Boulders or Routes? Routes - Tough Schist, has some bouldering in it as well. Boulders - New England Bouldering Use the MP app on your Smarty Phone. Download the Smuggs area. Its pretty well covered from the Bouldering perspective. I will also add, bring a 2nd pad with you to Smuggs... seemed like a lot wandering movement.

Sounds like he is looking for bouldering. The New England Bouldering book I guess is out of print as it sells for $200 used!

Thanks Guys! I am looking for bouldering, and do have Smuggler's Notch downloaded on my phone, it's just that MP descriptions can be pretty vague and something about guidebooks is so much more welcoming.

Graham. If your somehow lucky enough to get your hands on the boulder book, it probably won't even do you that much good, it was written quite a while ago. MP will orient you to the area, and you can probably use it to identify some of the main pebbles. All the boulders are concentrated with a 10 minute walk of each other. Poke around and explore. Climbing in Vermont is always an adventure. Smuggs has some great stuff for every level, and I'm sure you'll enjoy it. My two cents, it's more fun to discover them on hold on then it is to try to find them using vague MP descriptions.

If you show up on the weekend, you will not be alone in the notch. It will likely be very easy to hook up with some others for beta. Parking can be tight on these October weekends however.

Thanks for your help! I just finished a sweet session sans-guidebook, and it worked itself out.
