I don't know. Can't I just sign up for re-education camp and be done with this?

This is what we are talking about. Jumping to extreme conclusions and crying foul. You have absolutely no idea why I assumed you were dating. Maybe during the 30 minutes I climbed next to you at the crag I picked up on the fact that you were not a guide. Or maybe I saw him give you his sweatshirt, or whatever else the case might be.

I have no doubt women suffered horribly (and still do) at the hands of men, but as you said numerous times, times are changing. Why is it such a wild idea to suggest women start giving men the benefit of the doubt? I assure you that men will be much more likely to hear you out and police their own actions if they know that they aren't constantly on trial.

I was recently banned from a local climbing community FB page for questioning the idea of male privilege. Questioning! I've been more vocal about my opinions/skepticism since then, both online and in my community.

Every action has an equal and opposite reaction isn't just true in physics, but in people as well. If you exaggerate a problem, as I think the Flash Foxy article has done, expect exaggerated blowback as a response.

Back in my day all we had was a bungee cord and a beaver tail... I remember when they picked us up from the thrift store the day we bought that wrap around couch that Abraham Lincoln died on and later pulled a replica of the Mona Lisa out of it, what a deal. That night, I spilt out the seeds of my bone and we ate on those. And that was just like my Pappy taught me, pappy's my dog... We had some great times at Rafiki's school of illusions. The thing that really interested me was the yoga pants thing... so I scratched that off the list. But just when I thought I was outta the woods, a scarecrow took me to Paris! YOU WANTED A DREAM VACATION!! FORGET ABOUT IT! I once ate a bunch of boiled peanuts and would've liken to have gotten sick; Metaphysically its correct but scientifically its all wrong... It was her! Again! She totally got me. Her pentameters were always so hot. Turns out she used to be a dude named Harold.

Mr. Tim Lutz, I noticed you erased your obese female "American Beauty" MP profile pic for 1 day amidst the fanatical trending of this thread. Having noticed that gave me more hope of men moving progressively in the right direction, but you just re-posted the same profile pic again a day later. Perhaps idiotic memes and short harebrained responses accomplish...nothing at all? Hurting more than helping? Please swallow some pride and try to imagine what it is like for some women in the climbing community to be a part of a highly male dominated sport.
Fogal, I can't speak for Mr. Lutz's use of the image, but the original is from Catay.com, and is a spoof of the poster for the American Beauty movie, one of several spoofs. The image originally was making a pretty pointed statement, and not at all in a hurtful direction, but rather the opposite.

I would suggest that it is possible Mr. Lutz was/is making a statement with that image, or not, who knows, but it is possible this is not intended in a mean way.

On the other hand, if you google search this image, you will get a whole lot of harpooning crap, which is mostly crass tripe. You will also get nongendered discussions about weight obsession in our country, and health insurance in the UK!

(Lawn needs mowing, can you tell?)

Best, Helen
