Sounds pretty scary. What's up with all the violence in public places these days? Seems like a lot of people have weapons, many of whom are mentally unstable. I saw it on ESPN.com, since it happened in the athletic facility area of CU.

Lack of mental heath resources, lack of healthcare resources, lack of education, lack of labor, availability and unbridled access to weapons, extreme ideologies taking over political discourse sowing discord. It is deeply disturbing, esp living about 25 mi from Newtown CT and knowing that didn't do shit... our congress has blood on its hands IMHFO.

There are always going to be nutcases or evil people out there doing these things, in spite of all the measures we take to protect ourselves. We have great police, but these events can't be stopped entirely, no matter how much money we throw at it. Note that this was not "gun violence."

It seems I hurt a finger, but let's still get out. The stuff near the airport? Or anything off 7? No one has climbed "All The Kings Horses" in at least 5 years.

I tried to go bowling last night at the UMC. There was a fake report of an active shooter in the building. The building was closed until 11 am this morning. I couldn't go bowling. Lame

Believe it or not, I think the world is actually less violent, it is just that we are inundated with it in mass media and most of us spend way too much time on the computer or our phones seeing each story about 100 times. For instance, look at the stories from Syria. Horrible as it is, it doesn't compare to say when the Kmer Rouge we running amok, yet the news reports it as the worst slaughter since WW2. Also, in the past I don't think you heard about every murder or abduction 2000 miles away as you do now.
