Looking to head to Seneca this weekend. I'll probably opt to leave really early Saturday morning since it is going to be raining all day tomorrow and into the evening. I noticed that all the online reservable campsites at Seneca Shadows are booked for Saturday night. There appears that there are plenty of walk-in sites though. Do these usually get taken? I've never climbed at Seneca and have no idea how crowded it gets on weekends.

if you are willing do drive around a bit there are numerous road side/short hike camping areas within a 15-20min drive, those are the options I go for cause I hate paying for glamping

The princess shitbird (snowbird) always has room as noted above! I will be there this weekend. See you there maybe.

Hey Bob, I think your chances are good for getting one of the walk-in sites at Seneca Shadows. There are dozens of walk-in sites on the large open field, and I've never had problems getting one even on busy weekends. There was a recent change in the camp hosts there, and the new hosts seem to do a great job keeping the bathrooms clean. Hope you have a great time at Seneca! The number and density of moderate classics doesn't quite measure up to the Gunks, but the views and exposure are just as thrilling! Watch out for loose rocks.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
