Hey all,

I'm going to be flying in Saturday ~ 3pm on 8/24 to SFO and flying out on Saturday 10/1 at 5pm (probably leaving ~noon on Saturday from Yosemite so I can get an In and Out burger :) ). I've already rented a car, so if anyone wants to catch a ride with me let me know.

As far as flying, I always travel with my trad rack, harness and shoes in my carry-on and haven't had much of a problem.

I'm planning on packing a bottle of Colorado whisky to share too :) anyone else bringing a bottle of local liquor to share? it would be great to have a tasting!

Hi guys,
Remember, we have the Yellow Pines campground starting Sunday, Sept 25th in the afternoon. If you get to Yosemite any earlier you've got to find your own place to stay.

Hello all,

I'm going to be driving from Seattle on the 24th, arriving in Yosemite on the 25th. If anyone would like a ride I would be happy to coordinate. I've got a Subaru Outback that can comfortably fit 3 others. I'll be sticking around afterwards for an indefinite time so getting creative with a ride back may be required but I'd possibly be open to heading to SFO.

Excited to meet everyone!

Hey guys!

I'll be flying into Fresno on September 23rd. Getting out there a few days early to do some hiking if anyone would like to join!
As far as climbing goes, if anyone is interested in doing Matthew Crest traverse one day, I'd love to pair up!

Can't wait to get out there and meet everyone!

Flying into SFO on the 24th, since flights to Fresno were just awful for me.

Looking forward to seeing & meeting people and getting some good climbing in.

For those coming early: on 9/24, I booked a hostel bed at the Mountain Bug Resort, which is an hour outside of Yosemite in Midpines. Only $34 for a single dorm bed, which is about the same as what you'd pay for a campsite anyway (if you could find one...). Plus the food is supposed to be good and they have a sauna/spa that you can access for $12 a day

Hey all, flying in to SFO on the Friday night, likely hanging out in San Diego Saturday, then will stay at that hostel you indicated Anfarwal (just waiting to hear back on availability). Have rented a car and can pool, but will be coming back the following Sunday around 10am (2pm flight).

Sunday might be a good day for a hike, Heather and whoever else!

Jan and Steve, looks like our timing might align for pooling.

Hi Chris,
Thanks for the offer but my flight arrangement is such that I will be arriving in SF a couple of days early. I have arranged for a ride already. Looking forward to seeing you all!
Cheers,
Steve

Does anyone have room at a campsite in the valley for Saturday night?

I can't wait to see everyone in Yosemite. I'll probably fly into SFO in a few days to see a friend and then fly out the Tuesday after the meet.

I'm excited to get on some longer routes. Royal arches sounds like a great warmup. Likely I can just lead 5.9G pitches. I can comfortably follow 10s and some 11s.

This is my first time to join a group like this. Does it make sense for me to bring a 70m and single set of cams/nuts? Will people be putting their racks together?

I'm bringing my whole rack, ropes, crash pad, aid gear, haul bag, the works. I'm driving so it isn't a big deal and I'd rather be ready for anything.

Royal Arches sounds like a great warm-up romp. Such a fun climb!

I'm pumped to try and get on some 5.9 or 10- classics like East Butts of El Cap/Middle Cathedral, Central Pillar of Frenzy, Commitment/Selaginella, or Serenity/Sons (with a slightly stronger partner). I'd also love to get some top ropes set to run laps on some harder routes in the 5.10+ range like Outer Limits, Sacherer Cracker, Moby Dick, 1st pitch of Freeblast, Manana, Lunatic Fringe, JoJo, or Sherrie's Crack.

I'll be bringing a full rack, myself. 60m rope.

Royal Arches is something I'd like to do, too. Though it probably isn't a warm-up (at least length-wise) for me.

Can't wait to see you all! I'm coming to the valley on Tuesday (because of the work...I know, work disturbs the real life ) and joining the Meet. So I'll skip the warmups ;) I would love to do at least Central Pillar of Frenzy and East Buttress of middle Cathedral. I'll come with rope and as big rack I can fit into my 20kg luggage with tent and everything else.

See you soon!

Hi people,

Mattias from Sweden here, excited to the meet with all of you! I'm looking for two things:

Car pooling from SFO Sunday afternoon me and another friend. Chris our timings might be good?

and

Company on The Rostrum 5.11c. A crazy classic crack climb. Swinging leads of course :)

Jan Virt · · Unknown Hometown · Joined Jun 2016 · Points: 10

Not sure when can we check-in, but I should make it there Sunday morning. Anyone who would be coming around the same time, we can just hang around and do some one pitch fun climbs in the Church Bowl area. Do we have to meet somewehere as a group the first day?

Sacherer Cracker - I was thinking about it too, but don't have any wider gear than camalot 4 which doesn't seem to be large enough for higher up. I struggled a lot on Eichhorn's West Pillar this summer. First pitch, which is 5.9OW and that brings bad memories to attempt anything like it any time soon :) Citation from supertopo. A challenging 5.10, Sacherer Cracker offers fantastic moves over a strenuous 150' pitch. After an awkward start, the route takes a long splitter crack that gradually widens from fingers to off-width. Though there is a 5.10a crux down low, it is the 5.9 off-width at the top that gets most climbers' attention. Few if any cams can protect this section. Your best bet is to bring off-width skills and commit to the brief but intense wide moves.

Rostrum is on my tick list too, but far from now, regarding my current skills.

I have climbed Moby Dick, Outer Limits and Freeblast, Frenzy, EB on Middle Cathedral before, always good to repeat, if nothing else available.

Serenity and Sons linkup is tempting, but grade and bad pro on the first pitch keeps me kinda away.

hey all y'all!

I'll be driving to Yellow Pines from Oakland sometime on Sunday 9/25, returning the following Sunday. Not sure when exactly since I'm flying back from a conference in NYC Saturday night. Hit me up if you need a ride! I'm borrowing my girlfriend's truck so I'll have plenty of space for gear.

Hello all,
I'll be in the valley on Saturday and am looking for a partner and/or group to climb with. No real agenda whatever you may have in mind. However I understand that the Royal Arches is one of the greatest rock climbs the ine world! So, if that suits anyone would be great to hopefully get on it.
Cheers,
Steve

looking to get on some big routes. no point in climbing single pitch for me. would love to pair up with someone on the east buttress and central pillar of frenzy. Maybe the east buttress of El cap.

stephen arsenault · · Wolfeboro, NH · Joined Aug 2011 · Points: 66

Nick,

Looks like there will be plenty of climbers interested in doing the CP of Frenzy.

I've done it a few times, and it is an incredible route, with really great pitches. Funny, when I was talking to Bridwell, about 10 years ago, I mentioned the route, and he pointed out to me that he did the 1st ascent.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
