Howdy folks,

Looking for lowest available elongation static line. 200m spool or similar would be ideal.

Used the google machine and am seeking additional input from anyone who has a preferred retailer/ wholesaler they work with. Cordage to be used in anchoring applications off of natural features.

Thank y'all,

Sterling HTP is the most static, unless you go with a dyneema or other hi tech cored rope. The HTP has polyester cover and core.

Edit: forgot to add that Treestuff has good prices and selection.

I have use this stuff bluewaterropes.com/product/… for years for cleaning and equipping routes. It is amazingly tough, super strong and a good color (tan with small blue flecks) yet can be knotted pretty well.
I like the slight stretch for safety for my purposes, but it is negligible for jumaring or anchors.
Curious, are the anchors temporary or needed in a place where bolting is not allowed? I am not a big fan of tat anchors that can be eaten by rodents etc and need to be replaced often, nor tree anchors if they are going to be at all permanent.

If you can find someone with a prodeal, spools through bluewater are rather inexpensive.

There is also ABC static which is 100% polyester. I did a free-hanging rap of 350' off of 3/8" ABC static and when I got to the ground and unweighted the device it only rose up about a foot. So 350' and 160 lbs gave me about one foot of elongation.

This is the stuff: campsaver.com/1-2-in-12-7-m…

Basically, any static rope that is 100% polyester core and cover is going to be as low stretch as you're going to find and lower than rope with a nylon core.

20kn, does the ABC cable when you rapple on it, the HTP sure does especially the 9mm?

My piece does not. I've only rapped on it with the Petzl Rig and ID'S though.

Cavers use lots more static line than we do - maybe check out one of their forums?

I'll second the recommendation for BlueWater II Plus.

Highline Rope is a low cost option. Less stretch than Bluewater, but more than polyester ropes. It's made on old PMI machines and does not have any UIAA/CE/NFPA ratings if that is important to you. I've used spools and spools of it in caves without any issues.

If you really want zero stretch, you can buy Amsteel Dyneema by the spool. It's not cheap though.

Yikes! Naked dyneema, somebody put a cover on it, quick!

Poly on Poly. Inexpensive. Very low stretch. Reasonably thin for lugging around to build anchors. I've put in miles of rappelling on these ropes and love them.

Imlay Canyonero rope is pretty sweet: imlaycanyongear.com/ropes.php

I use it for anchors. It's pretty rugged stuff.

I use that 9MM CANYONATOR for top rope solo and rappelling to clean up routes. Rock and ice.

It's nice. Low stretch, seems pretty durable. Very wire like... mine is softening up in areas though, used for about 4 months on roughly weekly basis. That can be good and bad, if doing top rope solo and want to feed through device easy, it's great, if want to stuff in a pack, not so great.

Also stays clean and absorbs minimal water from snow. And as light as my lead 70m ropes.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
