Driving vs flying from east coast for 1 month trip

Hola,
I'm weeks away from my much awaited trip to Yosemite and am realizing how much time I've committed to driving from Asheville, NC and am not psyched. I have an entire month off but am now bummed about the week total that driving will eat up. How much of a pain is the YARTs system? A flight is (without oversized bag fees) currently equal to my gas costs. I really don't want to pay for a rental just to have it sit around most of the time...

Depends on where you want to climb. If you stay in the valley itself YARTS and the valley shuttle is close to convenient, but involves a second bus from airports to YARTS routes. If you want to go to Tuolumne meadows you should know that with the recent change in vendor and seasonal closures the shuttle system is very limited. On your way out driving you may enjoy Eldorado cny, Rifle, Red Rocks, Eastern Sierra/Bishop and have some access to Tuolumne meadows. Fyi the close date for many services up in Tuolumne Meadows is September 11 this year but hwy 120 will most likely still be open with no overnight roadside parking.

We did the drive in a push from the valley to Brevard. Fly!

Thanks for the info. The ticket has been purchased and many days of climbing have been added. It looks like yarts picks up at Fresno airport but will make it extremely tough to get into camp 4 in time to snag a spot. I've been to Tuolumne a few times and plan to just hunker down in the Valley. It'll be great either way. Anyone want to let us throw down a tent in camp 4 with then September 20th???

You should have driven,, Asheville-CO is a day, I did it last year. Then one more day to The valley

When the weather craps you can just go to Bishop..

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
