2nd Flatiron rescue today
According to the Boulder Daily Camera today, a 36 yo Lakewood man scrambled partially up the 2nd FI last night, got stuck, sent a text to his friends for help (instead of calling 911), and when they didn't respond, spent the entire night on a ledge until this morning, when his friends finally read the text messages, and called the city. |

How do you get stuck halfway.. it drops to lik 4th class after the first 100 ft |
That's weird, I was climbing the 3rd Flatiron early this morning and I didn't notice any rescue on the 2nd ... RMR must keep a low profile. |

He lost his climbing shoes in moving to CO that week so was climbing in Nikes, didn't know anyone in CO to contact for help, and was scared to call 911 because he thought he would get arrested for free soloing, he had apparently slid a few feet at some point and had several minor scratches, and was planning to try to dyno onto one of the bulges because he didn't know where else to go to get to the top. People will find a way. |

I like the picture in the Camera, where the Second is hidden behind a tree... |

I think 911 accepts texts now, but if they do it definitely isn't general knowledge. Anyway, I can at least applaud recognizing when you're in trouble and staying put. Happy ending. |

We do not have the whole story. |

Ahh looks like he was on South Block and had downclimbed and got himself in that position. |

From the Daily Camera: |
Tim, do you have the video of the kids that take off on a Flatiron with weather rolling in? One of them exclaims "I have Rocky Mountain Rescue on SpeedDial!" |
Whoohooo! We're goin climbing! |
Jeremy was interviewed by 7news last night: |
Jeremy, if you want to set off into the unknown, at least bring a short rope and some slings. Did you try edibles? |
"It's a good experience in that I’ll never forget it, I’ll have a kind of fun ‘hey look at me, I’m an idiot’ type story to tell for the rest of my life,” Cadwell said. “But it was also quite scary. I literally thought I was going to crap my pants a couple of times.” |
