After all these years, I'm surprised we haven't been shouting about this from the rooftops! How cool is it to have a new guidebook for the Wasatch!!?!

"After 10 years of work, A Granite Guide is finally on the way! Covering The granite canyons and cirques of Salt Lake City, A Granite Guide is the most comprehensive guide available for these areas. Books can be pre ordered at pullpublishing.com/

Love the book from what I can preview. Question though. Why no BCC? I know this is the granite guide but isnt hellsgate limestone?
It seems like BCC is the only thing missing from that line of SLC canyons.

Cool!!!

Now I can pretend to climb even more.

Looking forward to geeking out on it.

648 pages from Ferguson to Lone Peak.

If it included all routes to the north, I'd need a wheelbarrow to carry it to the crags.

Massive effort! Wow...looks great!

Someone correct me if I'm wrong. Since the last edition of the Ruckman guidebook (1998), LCC has seen massive route development as compared to BCC. And rightly so. The stomping grounds of LCC are incredible for a "scruffy" area.

One of the authors has put a significant amount of effort into Hellgate. And it's kind of cool to see the newer stuff which has been put in since 1998. Additionally, the book, while mostly granite, really covers the canyons Ferguson, Little Cottonwood, and Bells, with cirques Big Willow and Lone Peak. That's a significant chunk of rock!

The book is beautiful and has some really cool color-coding route mapping. It does what a guidebook is supposed to: document routes, apt descriptions for approaches and routes, and most importantly inspire the reader to get out there and climb!

Just was asking. Great looking book. I will be picking one up. Thanks for the effort and time to put together such a well done guide book.

We climbed one of the new 3 pitch sport routes at Hellgate today. Is an instant classic. Thank goodness the beta is in the book.

I think it's a great guide - picked up mine last week. My only critiques:
  • some of the colors on the topos and some of the type size choices are a little rough for us with older eyes
  • maybe there should have been separate volumes, one for each canyon and split LCC into the granite areas and the upper limestone/quartzite areas?

The book is definitely heavy.

I was thinking about picking up a copy but I wanted to make sure that the historical information had been cleared through Calderone, since he is the God of LCC.
Please confirm.

If you don't want the weight Rakkup App is a great alternative. The app is free and you can download BCC and LCC for FREE until 9/30/16. It has GPS navigation so I didn't waste time getting to the actual climb.
Had an awesome weekend climbing! So easy to use. Would love to hear if anyone else has tried it or plans to before end of the month. Here is the link if anyone is interested. rakkup.com

I would rather give my hard earned $$ to Andrew, Nate, and Tyler then use a free Calderone guide....
