Looking for climbing groups in Bama

Hey all. Looking to get back into climbing after way too many years off. Wife and I would love to find a family oriented group to climb with around Sand Rock and/or Palisades. Not complete newbs but after so much time away we'd like to get in with folks who know their stuff and can help us safely relearn the sport as well as find new people to climb with. Groups with kids would be even better as I really want to introduce my son to climbing and having other kids around make everything better.
Cheers
Mike

I've been climbing about a year and a half, best climb so far is a 5.10c. Might not be the experience you're seeking, but I'm also looking for climbing partners. Currently working in the Anniston, AL area. I'll be here for about 2 years.

Thanks gonzalesna I may take you up on that. Still hoping to find a club or group to meet up with. My son is really heavy into sports so scheduling is a nightmare for us. We would hate to be "those people" who always seem to back out of a trip and leave you or any other single partner hanging,,,,no pun intended but it works LOL.
With luck the climbing time will increase as we hopefully get back into the sport and we'll be able to dedicate more time to it but right now it's still only one of the many things we do and they all compete for time.

Cheers,
M

I live 2 miles from Palisades. I have this year got back into climbing now that kids can climb. It has been hard to find people to climb with around here. I haven't gotten with any groups though. I feel that we aren't capable enough. How old is your kid? We are out at palisades all the time.

My wife and I have been wanting to try climbing but neither of us have experience or know anyone who does it. If there are any groups in Alabama we would love the opportunity to tag along and learn the ropes.

Bryan, if you are wanting to get into outdoor climbing for the first time, this might be worth checking out:

It doesn't pop right out at you from looking at the link, but there is one at Sand Rock (Cherokee Rock Village) this weekend.

Thanks for the info. I wish I knew about this sooner. I will have to try and make one of their other dates.
