I am in Carmel Valley for a graduate course with the weekend of 8/6-8/7 off. I brougt my harness, shoes, and gri-gri. I can lead through 5.9 and follow through 5.10b. This is my first time visiting California and I would love to get outside and do some climbing!
Hi Nicole there's a strong chance I'll go climbing on Sunday with the possibility of departing late Saturday night, what's your transportation scenario? Was talking about Tahoe or Yosemite for the day but some nearby options exist as well 808 256 0458
Your plan sounds excellent. I'm flexible in terms of location; my only caveat is that I must be back in time for class on Monday morning - I imagine you will need to be at work as well? Where are you coming from? My transportation is limited to public transportation as I do not have a car with me. I could meet you somewhere and would gladly provide money for gas for carpooling.
Cell phone signal is awful here, so I am limited to emailing.
Ok cool, so not as exciting as Yosemite some nearer by option exist. A very quiet area I know about with potential for First ascents. There are some bolted spots to cruise as well. Swimming holes and fun hiking too. That would be easy to scoop you and head down then you'd be on my way back
That sounds great. Yes to hiking and swimming. I should mention that I have only done sport climbing thus far. I have yet to venture into the world of trad. The smoke down here is hit or miss. It is very noticeable in the morning and evening. Mid-day it is not so bad. I was next to a wildfire out in Colorado a few years ago and that was far worse.
Cool. I am at the Hidden Valley Music Seminar (this is the name of the location, too) in Caramel Valley. You can email me at kbcm04@gmail.com and we can talk more specific details.
