From my (limited) experience, it can be really hit or miss. It depends on rain - if it rains down low, it will be snow/verglass up high. Tetons seem to get real sketchy with verglass. Upper Exum is probably the best bet, as it dries the quickest. When we were there last Labor Day, a storm came in and shut everybody down right as we arrived. There was then a 1 or 2 day weather window (upper Exum was in good condition, OS was icy) then after we left it seemed to come in again and shut the place down. Of course, it's always climbable with the right equipment and experience, but I'd say mid sept is definitely a bit late for peak conditions. Hopefully that helps, or a local can chime in and prove me misguided.

Folks climb the Grand year 'round.
Is it feasible to find typical dry summer conditions in mid-September? Not usually.
You also have less daylight. Temp's will be colder up high. Snow and ice lingers longer.
Some years...you might be as golden with conditions as that Teton rock...
