Does anyone have any rad beta on work exchanges near climbing areas (like at hostels and such) anywhere abroad? My friends and I are open to anywhere, just trying to find somewhere affordable to live and sport climb for a few months!

Geyikbairi in Turkey has numerous campsites that offer accommodation and meals in trade for working in the lodge.
It's also easy to get day guiding gigs in places that have less stringent laws regarding certifications (think: Asia).

Ive been using workaway.info to find work exchange programs abroad for almost a year now. Pretty good website, alot cheaper to become a member than WWOFing and you can actual look at all of the profiles before you become a member

I'm interested in hearing where you went via WorkAway and how the work fit in with climbing.
The five hours/day five days/week seems like it would cut into climbing pretty significantly, but maybe I'm wrong. The only volunteer/climbing experience I've had alternated one day on, one day off and the working day was usually 6am-11am which was perfect.

Its true with workaway you dont get to climb all day everyday but it worked out pretty good for me. The best place was verdon gorge in southern france. The people i helped also ran a climbing guide buisness so understood i wanted to climb more than their average helper. Even let me use their car to get around. Usually what i do is express that climbing is what i want to do before getting there and ask them how time off works, no one had a problem with it. Id usually work til about 1 or 2, take a nap and go climb for 4 or 5 hours into the night and return to a great homemade dinner and then would help do dishes. And on days off explored the towns or whatever else looked cool around. I prefer climbing in the afternoon but it was never a problem if i wanted to go out in the am then work in the night.

I came across a posting in Egypt where they were looking for someone to run their guide buisness. Apparently climbing in Egypt is just becoming a thing and were looking for experienced people to make a 6 month commitment with them.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
