Ciao Shelf Road Junkies!

I'm closing in on finishing the updated edition of Shelf Road Rock, which will feature nearly 1,100 routes. It will be printed in full color and will include detailed route descriptions, first ascent info, awesome photos and will be an outstandingly detailed guide, the most detailed to date!

I'm currently looking for photos to include in the publication. If you've got some that you think are worthy - action shots on the best routes - please send them to my publisher by either electronic means at fred@sharpendbooks.com or, you can snail mail a memory stick to him at:

Sharp End Publishing
PO Box 1613
Boulder, CO 80306

Looking forward to seeing what you've got, the submittal deadline is end of July. It should be in print by October/November.

Thanks for your help,
Rick Thompson

A reminder: we're down to two weeks until the submittal cutoff. Please get your photos in to us ASAP!

Thank you for your support. A free guide for your donation of publishing quality photos.

The guide is now hovering at 1100+ routes and variations, which is up more than 250 additional routes over the previous guide!

cheers,
rick

you may use photo of my chiseled abs, highly honed neck meat, and stunning features for cover of this book

Has a release date been set and is there a way to pre-order? Plan to get down there a bunch this November and would love the book over the mountain project app. Thanks.

Parker, I'll be with my publisher tomorrow and Thursday and will get you an answer. Stay tuned.

I talked with my publisher Fred about this over the past couple days. We're thinking it should be in print sometime in November, just as the prime Shelf season is kicking off.

Stay tuned. I posted on this today on Facebook as well! You can find it under my nickname "Rico Thompson"

cheers,
rick

Good to hear. Would be a cool thing to try to have them by Oct 22nd, take them to the craggin classic to sell maybe. Either way though let us know about a pre order.

A new guidebook is in stock at Mountain Chalet in Colorado Springs, is it this one?

Parker Wrozek · · Denver, CO · Joined Mar 2012 · Points: 86

Not sure since it isn't on sharp end's website. You think there would be a bit more promotion.

You would think. I didn't look at it closely and didn't note the author, but it didn't appear to have the same aesthetics as other Sharp End books. Perhaps after the dearth we will have 2 new books to choose from.

Bob D's book is the one that just came out. I'm not sure when Rico's book will be out (hopefully soon)

Bob came out with a new one since 2010? Seems weird for both Rick and Bob to release one at the same time. I can't find anything on a new book from Bob, link?

I'm friends with both Bob and Rico. I dont want to post a link to Bobs book on Rico's thread. Do some research (ie FB)

Any word yet on a release date for the new guidebook?

Parker, et al,

Greatly appreciate your interest in what will be most certainly the highest level, detailed guide ever to Shelf Road. The most important part of this process as we move to final layout is ensuring the guide brings the finest quality info to its readers and users.

Just a little more patience please. The guide is currently in production, and should go to the printers in the next month. From there, it's most likely a two month turn around, as it will most likely be printed in Korea.

A few highlights: 1150 routes covering the entire Shelf Road area, all color with extensive action shots, vital FA info included with each route description, and much more.

Hang in there just a couple months longer, you'll be glad you did.

cheers,
rico

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
