Myself and some friends are heading to Albuquerque for a wedding, but naturally are taking some time to get on some rock. If anyone wants to join us, or show us around the Sandia foothills best kept secrets, shoot me a message. We will make it out there on saturday/sunday. Camping beta is appreciated as well.

Jeremy, Thanks for the information. Despite reading your advise, we still went into the hot, bug infested nightmare. While it was extremely hot, I was still impressed with the amount of potential out there. Has anyone spent some time to develop the area?

We made a stop at big block in the evening, and it was a nice change of scenery. Again, thanks for the help.

Whelp, Bob Murray has lived here for over 30 years now, so yeah, you could say there's been some development. Long before that many others have been bouldering the foothills going back to probably the '50s.

And of course, bouldering has exploded so there's been a lot of development out there. Used to be a crowd out at Three Guns (mostly high balls.)

If you haven't thrashed for > hour or two to get there, I'd tend to put money on the rock having been touched at least.

Too late to be useful, but the TV station is up at 10,000' on the crest of the ridge and is much cooler than the foothills. It is a band of bullet limestone for bouldering.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
