Is it possible to simply require varification by a moderator before a new account becomes active? That coupled with a maximum number of threads any user account can start in a 24hr period should cut this crap down quite a bit.

A regional ip block for whatever country it is coming from could help.

The other climbing site does not seem to be having this problem. Are they just not targeted or do they have a way of fending it off?
