How much camping space at Wild Iris?

Howdy, brethren to the north. My family (kids under 10) and I will be heading through Lander area over the July 4th weekend, en route to Tetons and beyond. We'd like to stop over at Wild Iris for a day and camp out there, as we don't have a reservation anywhere where we'd need one for those first few nights. How crowded will the camping get at Wild Iris over the holiday weekend? If we roll in on the afternoon of Saturday the 2nd, are we doomed?

By the way, apologies in advance for being a bunch of Coloradoans showing up at your rocks, but hey, we won't bring any crag dogs or ORVs...

Thanks for any advice you have. Cheers,

Josh

My wife and I made an impromptu trip up to Lander last 4th and got in around the same time. We ended up staying in the city park (free camping) and buying tickets to the big cookout they have after the parade. It was busy but we found plenty of space! The second night we drove out into the forest a ways and found some dispersed camping pretty easily.

Just got back from Wild this last weekend. There are tons of camping options around the walls. We camped up by the cell towers and it was great. If you get there early enough there are tons of sites on the road that loops around the OK Corral area. Not sure how it will be on a holiday weekend though but I'd be surprised if you couldn't find something.

Josh,

There is some great camping down limestone road past the turn off for main wall and OK Corral (stay left at the fork). You can't miss the camp area on your left side. There are a bunch of sites in a big open area. If you have a vehicle with clearance, you can access some really secluded campsites in this zone.

A good alternative to the OK Corral camping area, which may likely be busy that weekend.

Since someone mentioned cell towers: is there any cell phone reception at Wild Iris? I would have assumed no, but it would be handy if there was...
