Yosemite please Help me out of this FUNKKKKK....
I am a recently separated army vet, who is lost in the sauce. |
I think this guy mentions some organizations about getting vets climbing. It's a good listen regardless: |
about to listen now |
Sounds great,I will check back with ya from time to time. Plan on leaving this coming week and staying for about 2 months or so. |
Yo D, I'm a vet as well and feel you. As well as Vet Ex which was mentioned above, look into Paradox Sports and No Barriers as well. We're both based in Colorado, Paradox in Boulder and No Barriers in Fort Collins. Both have a lot going on for Vets, and Paradox will be doing an event in Yosemite over September 11th. Would be psyched to see you out there and get you involved in our community brother. |
If in the valley stay in Camp 4. You will be able to find partners/mentors at Camp 4 also frequent El Cap bridge. Keep a full cooler of beer. |
Climbing would be a fantastic way to reintegrate to a new life. Adjusting to civilian living PLUS separation (I'm assuming from a relationship?) is a very, very hard thing to do, and it's going to hurt at times. Alcohol - even beer - not a good solution and will make adjustment and finding a lasting peace harder - just my own experience. |
