Anyone venture up to the Uintas to climb yet? Wondering how much snow? Or is the gate open at Alta yet to go to Devils Castle?

Just got back from the Uintas (skiing). There is a lot of snow up high. Anything above 9500' or so is pretty snowed in. Any sunny rock is probably dry, but the approaches could be tricky (and watch out for rock fall). A friend went to cliff lake and bailed due to snow.

I skied within 100 feet of the parking lot on Saturday. Still plenty of snow.

The gate to Albion isn't usually open until July 4 weekend or so. And, its still locked.

Alta web cams: alta.com/conditions/mountai…

You can see Devil's Castle in the background of both the Sunnyside and Sugarloaf Peak cams. There is still over 70" of snow in upper Albion basin.

Went up foolhardedly last weekend. Too much snow this year. Looked like about 3 feet at mirror lake. Sketchy, icey approaches above 9-9500 feet. Wait a month.

Skinned up to the Moore wall on the moose horn last week and the rock was totally dry. Lots of fun to ski back to the car after climbing

Perfect in the sun. Travel on snow to base of crags. Prepare for wet snow conditions

Crag and Shred Classic this Sunday. Ski/snowboard when cold, climb when warm.

Meeting at Bald Mtn parking or Hayden overlook, which ever is cleared.

Sounds like Ruth's is snowed in still - can anyone confirm?

Ruth's is no longer snowed in! Hiked up there today to check it out and I wished I had brought my gear!

Did you happen to notice what the Bald Mountain area was like. Still enough snow to ski?

Perhaps on that upper snowfield, but things are getting pretty lean.

Looks like it's time to put the skis away for the year. Thanks.
