Cell service needed in Squamish
|
Going to be in Squamish for june and need talk text data and ability to call usa. |

The Adventure Center in town has free wifi, so that might be good enough for your needs. Otherwise, many cell providers can set you up with a limited-time Canada roaming package, worth checking in and seeing how much that would cost before you try to get a burner (which will still cost a lot to call the US). |

Is your phone carrier unlocked? |

Verizon charged me $25 for up to a month of voice and data roaming. There was some sort of cap on the data that I don't remember, but it was also a reasonable charge if I went over the cap. I was also able to set an expiration date for the service. It took a quick call with customer service. |

Google Chat App is nice to have when you can use wifi, you can video call, or send Gchat messages for free to people's email or directly to there phone if they have the app. Its free and the messages show up like texts. |

So if calling the USA is important stick with at&t and get a monthly travel package. It'll have calling within Canada and USA, international text and limited data. |

Tmobile has prepaid plans that start at $50 that include unlimited talk/text/2gb of data that works in all North America. 65$ gets you 6gb. If you are out of contract you can port your number over as well, if you don't like their service once back in the states you can go right back to AT&T after. (Disclosure that I do work for Tmobile). Can answer more questions if you want. |

Verizon's changed their international travel plan. It's now only $2/day to use your phone in Canada and you get your full domestic voice, text and data allowance. You’re only charged on the days you use your device (wifi usage doesn't trigger a charge). Calls to US numbers cost the same as if you were in the US, other than the $2 daily charge. |
