Camp sites at Lover's Leap over Memorial Day
Anyone have experience staying at the Lover's Leap campground over Memorial Day weekend? Was thinking of driving over there from SLC and arriving Friday morning. |
My guess is that your chances are not very good. There just aren't that many sites there and they fill most every weekend and on the Friday before a holiday weekend... |
they fill up pretty darn fast. its sometimes hard to find spots on non holiday weekends. If i were planning to stay up there over the weekend i would get there thursday. you might be fine friday morning. i know there is plenty of near by camping that im sure others will help you with. |
As of now, the campsite is still closed for the season. You can check the status here. It will likely be closed later than it has in the last few years due to the higher amount of snowfall. Dispersed camping is allowed in Eldodado national forest so that is always an option. You can find more information here. |
The leap campground is open. Was just there today and the gate was open. |
Thanks everyone |

If Lover's Leap Campground is closed. you can always drive 10 minutes west and camp at Phantom spires for free. |
Not sure how often they update their website, but it looks like the campground is closed |
It wasn't closed last week, I was up and stayed tues + weds night. |
Stayed there the 13th-15th and it was open but they may have closed it with the recent snow |
There's also camping by Silver Fork, near Kyburz. |
Can anyone let me know if the campground is open this weekend? Would like to start heading up there soon once I finish building my trad rack. Also if you need a climbing partner for the weekend, I am happy to join. |
