Anyone been up recently? Looking to go this weekend.

A buddy and I went up Cristo this past Saturday and the conditions were perfect. Easy to kick steps and the snow was in great shape. As a reference, we were in the couloir around 5am.

Climbed it last Friday. Snow was in decent but not yet full spring shape. Nasty wind slab/crust on the upper 1/3rd made it punchy on the way up and a little scary skiing down. Probably in great condition now if it hasn't snowed much recently!

Thanks guys! Seems like conditions will end up being just right. Did you guys rope up in the couloir? Looks like a lot of people don't.

Emmett. We didn't rope up. Hopefully the great conditions hold for the weekend!

No need to rope up, just know your basic self arrest skillz. If there are good steps up it the best thing you can bring are adjustable trecking poles so you're not stooped over and you can actually breathe.

Sunday was pretty much perfect. We rode the east face back down at 11:30am from the summit and it was awesome corn all the way down to tree line.

About 5 people we saw at the summit did Cristo and reported great snow back at the parking lot.

Looks like enough snow for a few more weekends of fun up there. You need to boot pack up to tree line if taking the east route up.

I went up and down Cristo on Friday (6/3). No hard freeze overnight, snow was decently crusty at 6 am when we hit the base of the Couloir, but there were some sections in the middle that were not weight supporting. Came down from the summit around 10 am. The upper 500 feet was decent, but below that everything turned into mashed potato. My friend on foot was postholing to his waist, he ended up hiking down the loose rocky slope to skier's right. I managed to slide down the whole thing on my snowboard, but it wasn't very fun.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
