Goes without saying, but it's spring and they are out in full force. Was at a lower elevation crag in RMNP and pulled 10 off me throughout the day.

Check yo self

Coming from someone dealing with chronic neurological Lyme disease for the past 8-9 years... Check your self for ticks, spray wth permethrin, PM me if you feel you may have Lyme disease or want to know more about it.

Single most under-evaluated risk, that many brush off . . .

This is not talked about enough!

,May be because of the the double meaning; Tics:
The little Suckers. . . .Suck!

The puns, are low hanging fruit, hiding the issue,

Elevated tic threat often mirrors Elevated Tick tries:
the reason no one is working the problem with the grassy landing.

The puns, are low hanging fruit, hiding the issue,

Tic borne diseases are a real risk.

it is a good idea to talk this up,

your crag dog might be protected,

but hitchhiking tics can live in the car.The same for crash pads.

Treat your Partner and all gear with - Permethrin and yourselves with a Deet,
/ socks-over-pants, approach/ retreat, - At least,
( If there is poison Oak or Ivy,- full cover-alls have been used for decades.)
, and vigilance - brushing off regularly, is a must do,
this should already be second nature to those familiar with chiggers. . .

Good PSA, but in CO there is little to no chance of contracting Lyme Disease, from the CDC website: "Lyme disease is spread through the bite of a blacklegged tick (Ixodes scapularis or Ixodes pacificus) that is infected with Borrelia burgdorferi. In the United States, most infections occur in the following endemic areas:
•Northeast and mid-Atlantic, from northeastern Virginia to Maine
•North central states, mostly in Wisconsin and Minnesota
•West Coast, particularly northern California

Maps showing the distribution of human cases are based on where people live, which because of travel, is not necessarily where they became infected. Cases are sometimes diagnosed and reported from an area where Lyme disease is not expected, but they are almost always travel-related."

In CO you should be more concerned with Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever that is spread by infected ticks: cdc.gov/rmsf/

Permethrin is toxic to cats. Keep your treated clothing away from them. This is a public service announcement on behalf of the furry critters.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
