Description
Crags Against Humanity are a collection of roadside cliffs low on Catalina Highway with routes aimed primarily at the beginner and intermediate Mt. Lemmon climber. With a large collection of routes rated 5.9 and under, uber-friendly bolt spacing and convenient access, its easy to see why "Crags" has quickly become the most heavily used (read: crowded) low elevation cliff.
If you can bear the ambiance of traffic and gunfire (shooting range is just up the highway) you'll find a full grade range from 5.5 to 5.12 with climb angles ranging from slab to overhung, and the real gems featuring big, chunky holds, and landing in the 5.7-5.9 range.
The cliffs get shade from about mid morning on, which means that you can comfortably climb here up until it is pushing well into the 90’s in Tucson.
Given the traffic these crags get, its especially important to top-rope on your own gear and limit your environmental impact as much as possible.
Getting There
There is a worn in access path that begins near the downhill end of the pull out just left of a small mesquite. The path contours the cliff directly under the climbs. Please stay on the path going to and from the climbs.
