Handing over admin rights to an area

Hey all, is there a way to transfer the admin rights for an area from the original poster to another user? Or to add another user as an admin?

The original poster is no longer active in the area of interest (Kenya) and is willing to hand over to someone in the current climbing community.

I don't have any info, but would like to add I have found it difficult to improve area and route info with the current system, and this might be the area to discuss some places for improvement. The main things that seem to hinder improvement:

• Reordering routes from left to right can only be done by area submitter?
• Making changes to an area's info uses a submission box which requires the page owner to accept the changes and copy/paste the changes, or implement them if the submitter didn't put the new changes in verbatim.

As a result, it is difficult to improve route ordering or info such as new bolts on a previously un-anchored climb, or new access info on an area. This is especially tough if, like Red has said, the original poster is no longer interested, or is no longer reachable through MP. Some suggestions on what could be changed:

• Have changes to a page/area be more like Wikipedia, where direct edits to sections can be made and then approved by an admin or page owner. The changes could be easily highlighted for the reviewer (similar to GitHub). If the page owner does not respond, it could open up to the admins, or even the public to veto the change if it's incorrect/spam.
• Have the route ordering be something anyone can submit, then either the page admin or owner approves. Or, all the submissions could be combined into the most-likely route ordering by an automatic algorithm.

Anyway, just my two cents, sorry if I'm derailing the thread.

Message your local listed Admin and they can take care of it for you

Hey there, I got your email but have been swamped. Will get back to you soon.

BrendanN, the "Improve This Page" system gives the original submitter a few days to handle it, then goes to an admin, and finally, if still unanswered, eventually gets to me or a colleague. That might take over a week, but suggestions should eventually get handled.

Unfortunately, there are people who will willfully destroy data if it were more wikipedia-like. Though I'd love to improve the current system.

Thanks for the info, I guess I have just been too hesitant to use the improve page feature, good to know it will bubble up the chain after some time. It's too bad the open style is too risky, I wonder if limiting open changes to those with a certain number of previous improvements would be possible and make It safe enough.

Also, is there a way to contribute to the internal workings of MP? Say through Github or something? I was thinking it'd be interesting to see if the "improve page" feature could be turned into a "edit page" feature and the edits would get sent to the owners/admins for review, with easy-to-read additions, deletions, etc and an "accept all" feature.

I wonder if we can have a system where users apply to be an editing admin or co-admin for an area. Decisions would be made up the chain, most likely based on that person's history and contributions.
