I'm really into climbing and this summer I was thinking to get into dirt bagging around some crags. I would appreciate your all ' s advice since I'm new to it.

step 1: not have internet.

Just make climbing the first priority, and the rest will follow.

1. Look homeless
2. Smell homeless
4. have a giants rack (nuts not boobs)
5. climb 5.13 (minimum)
6. your diet consists of pasta and very little else
7. live out of what ever vehicle you currently own
7a. if you don't own a vehicle hitchhike
8. make a instagram account and post non stop

AND THERE YOU HAVE IT my top 8 ways to be a dirtbag, it's the same thing to get sponsored though, just make 5.13 to 5.14.

Wash dishes, clean bathrooms, beg, hustle, don't spend.

I believe its similar to becoming a prostitute.

On the off chance this a real question..

1. Make it work. There will most likely always be good reasons to wait, but at some point you have to make it happen.
2. Get thrifty.

A lot of vague answers. Prostitute, really? I though climbers were the best at that "dirt bag thing", the quintessential dirtbags so to say.

Always camp for free.

Sure! I would like to hear some real stories from people who actually have done it themselves, not all that hear say.

Yeaa dude, I have buddies that have done and dabbled in the lifestyle. You just gotta know which bakery will give you their leftover bread from the day, which hotel you can easily sneak into the locker room for a shower (if you really care to shower) which crag is easiest to camp for free or has great blm land for the taking real close. Lots of ways to do it, van, tent, cowboy camp, cave. Just make it work, roll with the punches and go for it. If you want to do this for mre than a season, it gets a bit harder but I work some summers as a wildland firefighter, I make enough each summer for 3 months that I could surely afford to dirtbag around the other 9. Just see what works!

If someone needs to be taught how to live on the road cheaply, it's likely they are not qualified to be a "dirtbag." A Fauxbo(a word I have coined which stands for "Faux Bohemian"), certainly, but a genuine dirtbag, no. I suggest this because, part of genuinely living on the cheap comes out of necessity, and necessity is the mother of invention.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
