I haven't used pitons before, but I'm pretty sure this one isn't standard. It's at about the 6 second mark. I assume he is going to tie it off short, or is he really going to hammer in the full foot of metal?

Looks like a tent stake to me. Probably something off Warren Harding's rack; how that ended up in the hands of a distiller...

Forget the pin, how's about that hand over hand belay?

I want to grow up to climb like that someday, safety is so overrated. Ahhhh, tent stakes and hand over hand belays, the good old days.

Space age boots, Korean War backpack, and a length of rebar for a piton?

At least they're wearing modern approach shoes...

I don't think it is a hand over hand belay. Looks like he is hauling up a pack.

It sounds like fun, I want some. Maybe it will make me a mountain man, then I can finally start sharing bivies with other mountain men and slander you hip belayers for your weaknesses and not tying into your belts right.

Ya might be right but I think they might take better care with there packs stuffed with hooch and axe. Yer definitely gonna tether that cargo. Now, a simple matter of yer pals safety.....

I'll never understand how Hollywood can make spitting wood so romantic.

Tin cup is great Colorado whisky for the price!

Will drinking this make me want to climb in approach shoes with an external frame pack while belayed with a cotton gymnasium rope tied around my waist?

And check out the "hammer"...sort of right out of "The Shawshank Redemption", later there's a glimpse of its "pick end" when it's tied to the pack, sort of ice-axe like!
Pisser of it is...there's at least one quick scene (about the 13sec mark) that would appear to have a real climber climbing real rock...(unless it's a blow-up dummy pined to the rock!?)

Will drinking this whiskey get me a haircut?

I must have it!

FWIW it is a pseudo whiskey, i.e. not a craft small batch whiskey but made from distilled spirits bought from MGP:

All they do is cut it with some water from Colorado and do some quick aging. As for the commercial, totally lame. So lame I sent them a note.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
