Rain in Zion(s) 4/15/16
Edit wrong month... |
It's already June?? |
How much snow are we talking? I'm planning to backpack west to east late next week and I'm not sporting snow shoes. |
Cedar City got about an inch today and then it melted off. Rain too. So...sandstone is wet and soft for a few days. Climb when it is safe. |
Seems like something the Rangers could mention when climbers enter the park. Above their pay grade I guess. |

I was in Springdale during yesterday afternoon's rain. It didn't rain much. It's not even registering on NOAA's storm summary (yes, I checked that that Zion has reported previously when there is enough precip): wrh.noaa.gov/total_forecast… Benk919 wrote:How much snow are we talking? Also, the smaller creeks are running with less silty water than the main drainage. The W Rim was super muddy on the plateau last Sat, but it should be better unless they get another major dump. The road to Lava Point is still closed. |

There were multiple parties on moonlight touchstone desert shield and cragging at cerberus today... |
