Edit wrong month...

Big rain, big snow, cold temps. Please don't climb for 2 or 3 days. It looks really bad for us as a user to the park. You could destroy part of a classic route. Here is the kicker, all of your gear could zipper and you could die.

I see people out the day after rain all the time, uselly on classics. If you want to keep them classic then stop it.

So if you want to climb head out for some sunny limestone in St gorge.

How much snow are we talking? I'm planning to backpack west to east late next week and I'm not sporting snow shoes.

Cedar City got about an inch today and then it melted off. Rain too. So...sandstone is wet and soft for a few days. Climb when it is safe.

Seems like something the Rangers could mention when climbers enter the park. Above their pay grade I guess.

Our last rain in Moab soaked the rock and the next day Wall St was packed with climbers including guide companies.

I need to invest in a bull horn.

I was in Springdale during yesterday afternoon's rain. It didn't rain much. It's not even registering on NOAA's storm summary (yes, I checked that that Zion has reported previously when there is enough precip): wrh.noaa.gov/total_forecast…

No snow at Lee Pass today (6K); trail conditions were perfect, minimal dust or mud. Also, the smaller creeks are running with less silty water than the main drainage. The W Rim was super muddy on the plateau last Sat, but it should be better unless they get another major dump. The road to Lava Point is still closed.

Drove past supercrack yesterday and it was the same deal. Parking lot full. Time for public shaming?

np, I think a friend just ran the Zion Traverse Sat. If so, I can get a conditions report for you.

Report from my friend:
Trail conditions were perfect.
