Boulder's problem is that the vagrants are not 'transient.' They stay here, rather than move on. They make it hard for visiting climbers to find a safe, somewhat legal crash space. This town used to be wonderful. Now it is taken over by developers and bums--both groups worse than leaches.

"This town used to be wonderful. Now it is taken over by developers and bums--both groups worse than leaches." I agree about the developers, but "taken over by bums"? I'd say that's a bit of an overstatement.

I'd say that's a bit of an overstatement. The problem definitely has seen an uptick. I work in gunbarrell and we have a resident beggar on foothills and jay trying to hit up all the tech traffic out there. Used to be just down by pearl, but they beg all over north boulder now.

We have one or two resident panhandlers by Lucky's, but I don't see it as "taken over" or as a "problem," except for the panhandlers.

Seems like you have panhandlers on every street corner in Boulder. However, I still love the place and I miss it sometimes.

Please be selective with who gets this beta, but their is camping at the parking spot for Dream Canyon--if you walk west from the parking, you will find a number of perfect spots--the land is National Forest, and Boulder has nothing to say--their are houses in the area, but if you keep a low profile, you will be rewarded.

Way to be "selective."

Fire ban currently in effect. Rangers are also patrolling to enforce it. You have a campfire=you get a hefty fine! The offenders are neither hikers; nor campers. One of the vagrants who started the fire is a sex offender; the other has a rap sheet for burglaries. Now I have to be ready to bail at any given moment, with the chances of never returning to my home again. Thanks a lot Alabama dregs of society!

Colorado is doing a good job lately of attracting the dregs of society from all over.
