Any recommendations? I know she is not allowed in national parks. Doesn't have to be anything soecial, just want something to do in case it weathers. Thanks!!

Titus Canyon, Shay Canyon, way back in Donnelly or Fringe of Death, up towards Six-Star/Selfish Walls...

If there's cows and you want to be off leash, find another place to walk your dog.

Moooo. Yeah she is good dog but we always put her back on the leash if there are animals. Thanks for the suggestions!

Technically, she is allowed, but with significant restrictions. From the NPS Canyonlands site:

Pets are not allowed on hiking trails or anywhere in the backcountry. Pets may not accompany groups traveling by four-wheel-drive vehicle, mountain bike or boat.

Pets may accompany visitors in the developed campgrounds, and may be walked in the park along paved roads. Pets may also accompany visitors traversing the Potash/Shafer Canyon road between Moab and the Island in the Sky. Pets must be leashed at all times when outside a vehicle.

it's BLM land, you can walk your dog anywhere.

As long as you keep them away from the cows.

Except where all the private land forms a patch-work with BLM land - and it's not always clear which is which.

Drive up into the Abajos a bit?

Or go south to Cedar Mesa

If you happen to head up to Moab, Negro Bill Canyon is a great hike that allows dogs. The trail follows a nice little stream for a good portion of the hike and ends under a cool arch.

Negro Bill Canyon? According to some people, that name must be changed! You can't even utter that word. Ha!

Take a guess what the original name of the canyon was!

There was a petition to change the name:
