So after a trail run I went in to check it out. Just as I was scanning their boots and Ice axes a Lady approached me. She demanded that I pay 20 for a membership to even be in the store, and that I could not even look around with out one. is this for real? who the fuck run a retail store like this. I noticed their yelp ratings are horrible, which is a surprise for yelp. Just wondering if they actually had good deals or not.
TLDR walked in got kicked the fuck out in 30 seconds for not being a member.

I noticed the members only sign posted on the front door, but decided to try buying a fuel canister anyway. A salesperson approached me, and I asked her (before she could ask about my membership) if there were any fuel canisters for sale. She asked what kind of fuel canister?

"Uhh.... isobutane? Propane? Just a canister for a normal backpacking stove."

My friend held up a Primus fuel canister that was on display just as I finished asking about it. So, I thought we were on our way. Plot twist: The salesperson notified me that those fuel canisters were empty, and for display only. She also said that they did not have any actual, full, or otherwise useful fuel canisters in the store, and that would have to be ordered.

To make the experience even more strange, her reason for having only display canisters was that the sun rays entering from their window could potentially cause a canister to explode. Damn. Their windows are south facing....

On another and completely separate note:
I know a former employee of 123mountain who told me an entertaining story...

A family from out of state planned to vacation at a front range ski resort, and decided to have some new ski gear shipped to the condo they would be staying at. So they went online, found a good deal through 123mountain and placed the order to be shipped to the condo. Weeks later, the family has arrived to Colorado and begun their vacation, expecting their new gear to be at the condo, or at least coming. The husband calls 123mountain, my buddy answers the phone and has to explain to the guy that their store doesn't stock anything, and needs to order the item first before satisfying the customers order... The guy wants to speak to the manager. My friend says that he cannot put the manager on the phone (although he is in the same room). Now the guy is pissed and wants to know the manager's name. My friend was not even allowed to tell the customer who the manager was, or how to contact him directly. Weeks later yet, the guy is still calling for his refund, the manager won't budge, and there still isn't any ski gear. My friend quit and walked out.

TL;DR: indirect sunlight can cause fuel canisters to explode(?), 123mountain doesn't stock anything useful and runs a sketchy business

If they charge the customer's credit card at the time of order and not when they ship (technically it is a back-ordered item), then that is considered wire fraud and is investigated by the FBI if a complaint is lodged.

This store also gets a rating of 0.33 out of 10 on resellerratings.com

Ordered two color packs of DMM Biners ( r,y,b, g etc). Got one color pack one blue and 4 silver. Emailed. CS email was funky English like it was farmed out CS. Not helpful at all. Called. Person sent my complain to management. No response. Called again. Email sent back saying their policy was not to accept returns on climbing gear. They sent the wrong items. CS email told me they're not responsible for website inaccuracies! wtF??

Pass. Big time

Not to be that old fart, but it reminds me of an outfit in the early 80's selling chouinard bamboo zeroes for fifty bucks. Never saw my money again or the tool.

I was a bit nervous to order a couple of biners from them after reading reviews, but I ordered them since the price was really good. They informed me that they had to order them. They then charged me when they sent them, I got them a couple weeks after ordering. So, no problems here, but I'm planning to be wary anyway..
