Hey MP I was just looking to get some beta on these locations.

I know India has some bouldering and climbing. I found a website indiaclimbing.com. I'm looking for someones personal account of their trip though. What cities are the best to climb out of? Where did you stay? How did you get around etc.

My travel plans are flexible. I will be traveling at the end of april or anytime may june possibly even later in the year.

Thanks!

I was in India Winter and Spring of 2014-2015.
Hampi and Badami are both good. Hampi bouldering is like dirtbag ClubMed and the stone is really quality. Badami is a little more difficult to sort out, but not much. Really good sandstone sport though not heavily developed. Only problem is you're going in the wrong season. It will be hot as balls and getting muggy as monsoons come around June/July.
The North has other climbing, but I'm not familiar with it.
In regards to Dubai, etc.: Oman. A friend has been living there for a bunch if years developing what looks like SICK sport and bouldering. There is also big stuff and an ocean with surfable waves, if that's your thing...

If you want more specific beta for India (trains, buses, camping, etc.) or want to be put in touch with locals in Oman feel free to send me a PM.

Hey Mostafa,

to "complete" what simplyput already wrote, I have been only to North India. A lot of climbing is focused near Manali. By "near" I mean "indian near" which is a few hours by bus/jeep/etc.

Close to Manali is Vashist -> small village, however with two climbing shops:) Expect european prices (i am from Czech Republic so can't compare to US). Where are climbing shops there are climbers able to help you where exactly to go. Near Vashist (within half an hour) are a few crags for rock climbing. Nothing special, but nice for a day. What is the true gem of this area is bouldering (besides mountaineering obviously:).

Check out on internet Chattru/Chatru, Chota Dhara/Chota dara, Zanskar Valley.
I have spent 1.5 months bouldering in Chattru and chota dhara (to get insight check my pictures here (basically just manali/vashist/chattru/chota dhara): nzclimb.blogspot.de/2011/09…)

...I also gathered some useful(ta least for me) indian climbing related links: nzclimb.blogspot.de/p/india…

Let me know in case you need some more info...

In Vashist I stayed in Kante's guesthouse (50m behind "main" square). Guys from High Himalayan adventures were always very helpful (for free) -> they usually know if there is somebody in chatru.
