I have been considering on heading out to the the Wailing Wall and the Grail a fair amount in April and late March. When does it become too warm to climb at these locations?

Wailing Wall is in the shade most of the day, and as the name would suggest, windy. I was there last April and wished I had brought a bigger jacket!

Fair bit of the Grail stays in the shade too. Probably doable well into May.

Thanks Brain and Evan,

I see that the elevation for the Wailing wall is about 2000 ft higher than in St George, so I assume subtracting about 7 degrees would give a fair estimate. I see low to Mid 80s for the average at St George for early May, so probably in the high seventies at the Wall? Does anyone know if the temperatures and wind are sufficient enough to climb there into early May for a typical season?

When I was there in early April highs in St. George were in the 70s. Conditions were a little cold with the wind then, but great for hard climbing. I'm guessing people climb there through the summer. Just get up there early so you don't get baked on the sunny and steep approach!

Every year is different, but climbing at the WW in early May is feasible. The problem with the wailing wall is that the rattlesnakes become an issue. Nothing like Sinks but pay attention on the approach. In May 2014 we saw 3 in one day.
Also, consider the Diamond. It is at a higher elevation.

Thanks, I think that is all I need to know. I would not have expected the snake problem.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
