Ever since Movement Boulder opened, all the cock rubbers have move to & stayed there. Everybody knows that.

You'd be doing great if you did nothing but yoga sessions. By comparison, Core Power Yoga is $139/mo for unlimited sessions. Unlimited Crossfit is $160/mo. Just sayin'.
Climbing friend,

Yes, but the day price for climber of visiting type is still delivering a vicious slap to the wang!

It's a nice gym I can't stand going there. haha or most climbing gyms. If you work a 9-5 he only time you can go is super early in the morning or at 9-10pm. At night you are waiting on almost every route in the gym between thrutching noobs, or beanie wearing hardmen skipping clips and taking massive falls. Bouldering? Forget it unless you are part of the boulder "tribe", or want to do some obscure traverse that isn't worth their time.

I used to like working out upstairs but one section has the next 5.17 climber getting a personal training sesh on the campus boards, and the gym is always filled with the cult of crossfit class. And don't forget the spin class so biking is out.

This is assuming that I even found a place to park or a place for my bike among the 40k BMWs and volvos driven by 18 year olds in carhartts and dreadlocks. 30 minutes later I walk out annoyed and usually with my tendinitis flaring.

haha that's pretty much my gym experience every time. I'd love to train there more often, but what good is a gym at any price when you have to use in the off hours? It ended up being a waste of my $75 a month. I'm better off and happier waiting for more daylight and what's it called...real rock climbing.

So what you are really saying is you can't bring yourself to get up early. Both BRC & Movement open at 6am (BRC actually opens more like 5:45) and the people that get there early are there to train hard, not to chase tails or look pretty. Hell, BRC has training classes at 6:30am for the working types. I bet if you got there that early & worked out w/ those guys, you'd get a lot better & stronger too.

I am usually at work by 7 and not home till 5. I work full time and go to school half time at CU.

But that's true. You miss out on the yoga pants, but at least you get to crush it for a while.

I understand your sadness, yoga pants are comfy - but you don't have to be in a climbing gym to wear them, I wear mine around the house. Get comfy and enjoy!

Has anybody linked pink to blue tape? Then finishing on the white tape up the headwall?

Wait, you're complaining about 75$ a month? Check out the NYC gyms someday and be happy.

When you start thinking the price is too high at Movement, just remember that a one-day lift ticket at Vile is $165.

When you think it's bad waiting to get on a route, just think about 45 minute lift-lines, that you paid $165 to stand in.

It's all relative.

I remember how outrageous I thought it was when Stratton, VT went up to $50. I said how do they ever expect anyone to afford that price. haha.

not the same argument in the least. Though ridiculous for day passes, im pretty sure vail's operating costs are magnitudes higher than a little rock gym...

and no CO local is buying day passes at vail.

i think the disappointment stems from Movement Denver hiking prices less than a year into their operation. and not only did they hike their prices, they got rid of the 2 person family membership and are now forcing a family of 2 to purchase 2 separate passes.

but by all means, people should keep going to movement....as it keeps them out of my gym :)

That sounds like the perfect opportunity to beat the crowd...just saying.

I'm curious, how is it at Earth Trek these days? I don't assume route reset has gotten any faster, but does the gym still attract a lot of climbers? I mean, if anything, Movement Denver is simply bring their price on par w/ ET.

Not much of an increase, but it was already overpriced...

Happy I live closer to Earth Treks anyway. Except for the stiff top ropes (which are being replaced... gradually), it's better in every way.

Earth Treks Golden is so rad. Always new routes, it is a massive facility so it's constant work, but plenty of parking. It's like they took the Spot and stuck it onto the Movement in terms of the volume of terrain.

No matter how crappy the weather there's always been available ropes open and plenty of space on the lead wall and bouldering area. It's a bit spendy but worth it. It's also 3 minutes from my house so I'm biased...

ET-I pay 120 for two people per month and I enjoy it more than movement.

busy, but nowhere near movement. no matter how busy it is, i've never waited for a route...and i climb after work 2-3 days a week. ET is cheaper than movement.

powhound84 wrote: I don't think anyone buys day passes at Vail or Beaver Creek. 4 days of skiing pays for a Epic Pass. Thats the point; they want to sell you a cheap season pass and force you to ride their mountains so they can slowly push all of their competition into a situation where they have to sell out and who's first in line to buy? How many acquisitions have they made in the past 10 years? Vail Resorts represents all that is evil in the ski industry.
i dont disagree with you..i havent ridden vail in years for the exact point you make.. just merely stating an incorrect parallel was trying to be drawn.
