Looking for a climbing partner in North Georgia

Hey guys, my bud and I recently started seriously getting into climbing and we're looking to get some experience out there. Some experience on trad routes, mainly learning how to place and clean pro would be awesome. We're located in Dahlonega.

Im pretty close to yonah, Currahea and venture up to North Carolina a good bit if you want to tag along. Of course we might have to try and find something dry

Hi Rylee,

I was thinking of making a thread for this myself, mind if I tag along in yours?

I am getting into lead climbing but rarely have a partner who knows how to belay me. I also like the idea of learning trad and getting off the grid so to speak. I'm in the same boat, leading 5.8 and maybe 9, but I've found gym grades to be either too soft or outdoor routes sandbagged at the 5.9 level.

I have most of my own gear and am located in Atlanta.

I'm up in Asheville if any of you folks ever wanna head this way. Have loads of gear and time.

Thanks guys, you can shoot me an email through my MP contact page if you're heading out, no obligations to have me though.

Depending on the weather I may head up to Yonah soon or head up to Chattanooga to Leda

I'd be interested in either place, right now I am waiting to hear if my partners are free (and weather permitting) for Thurs/Sat at sandrock but could likely go those days as well if they bail.

Rylee if you don't mind I'm going to piggyback onto this post and say if y'all wouldn't mind me tagging along too I'd love to come climb. I can clean routes and clean anchors and belay. No lead yet. I just want more experience climbing. Thanks ahead of time :)

No that's perfectly fine Ivy. By the way, my friend and I are planning on hitting Pruitt Creek on Sunday for a little bit of top rope.

I'm also going to join this party if there's room. I just moved from Boulder to Kennesaw and I'm hoping to find some climbing partners to help guide me into the world of lead and trad climbing. I've only ever bouldered so my gear is limited to that, and all my friends that climb are back in CO so I'm kinda limited to gym climbing at this point. Would love to tag along with any of y'all. And if any of y'all climb st SSK then let's meet up there as well.

I wouldn't mind going out with someone (or multiple someones) during the week. I live in AL, so Sandrock would probably be the most conducive crag to teach someone to lead. I'm available friday (if its not raining) and next week.

I lead 5.10 trad and have all the gear. Having someone who has experience lead belaying would be a bonus... pm me if you are interested.

I say during the week, because I try to avoid Sandrock on weekends.

Hey all, I was pleasantly surprised to see this thread on MP today. I'm currently living in Athens, GA and have been very lucky to pull together a few committed climbing partners who do regular trips to Tallulah, and destinations in NC and TN. We're always scrounging around for new folks to work into the mix. We generally look for folks who are comfortable lead belaying but we're pretty good about mentoring newbies. Seems the only way to find climbing partners in GA is to train them up yourself! Check my perso page to get a feel for what we've been climbing. You should have your own shoes and harness. But I've got a double rack and several ropes. DM me if interested.

Just in case I don't see it on here, anyone feel free to message me on FB or text 706-622-1937 if you're climbing sometime and don't mind another person coming along. :)

Short of that...Like Shadrock, I've been watching this thread grow myself. If there's gonna be a bunch of ya gettin out up this way I guess I should try and help make sure ya don't put yer eye out. Sooo...y'all it me up. I probably know another old timer or two that could be rounded up as well.

Yonah tomorrow. Look for old guys and/or follow the laughter and profanity.

Did the old guys remember where they parked their car?

Paul Barnes · · Gainesville, Georgia · Joined Nov 2007 · Points: 30

Yeah, but I lost my jacket...:/ Rad Dawg found it on his way out though so all in all we live to fight another day.

Don't think I saw any of the folk from this thread though

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
