I'm looking for super durable, rock smashing pants. I climb (and live) almost exclusively in Carhartt double fronts but they just aren't holding up anymore. My current pair are only 4 months old and it's only a matter of days before everyone at the crag gets front row seats to my brown eye viewing party. Anyone have suggestions for similar but even tougher pants? Lycra enthusiasts need not comment.

You should ask Alex Huber where he sources his leather pants... But seriously, Carhartt, or almost anything cotton, really isn't that durable for climbing (& double fronts ain't no help hiding your ass crack). Climbing simply has wider range-of-motion than cotton is designed for: abrasion/wear when fabric is under tension. Soft shell material, even if relatively thin, is usually much more durable.

You might want to check out Arborwear. Similar style to Carhartt but they also have a gussetted crotch. I have been wearing them for more than ten years and really like them. They have a lot of different cloth weights as well.

I like the Mountain Hardwear Piero pant. they are made of thicker more durable material than other pants i have had, maybe not as breathable when its hotter but I live Las Vegas and have no issues climbing in them year round.

My go-to pants for cooler/cold temps on rock are the Mountain Khakis Original Mountain Pants. Bought a pair, fell in love and got a few more. Holding up really, really, really well.

I had a pair of nylon canvas pants from marmot(?). They were great! Very durable, wore them for everything for a few years. Some barbed wire did them in.

How the hell do you climb in Carhartts? The go to for the construction industry. ...but get caught in a rainstorm on a wall and add another 20 lbs. to yourself. Im still using nylon pranas from 15 years ago not so still going strong...and have a some mhw pants from the consignment store for$15 that work well...Carhartts and Mountain Khakis would be comfortable around the camp, but not for the vertical stuff. Goodwill is fun on a rainy day!

Thanks for the input. I've climbed everything from 5.nothing to 5.12 sport, multipitch trad and up to v7 boulders in Carhartts and it's really only bouldering that I find them to be restrictive. The same pants are also my work pants; I'm kind of a one piece for all the jobs type of person. It comes from many years of traveling and being house-less. The Arborwear options are looking good.
