Chattanooga in June?

I'm not familiar with the area and recently read in a climbing magazine that one could climb here 10 months a year and July and August being too hot. Given this, would a trip the first week of June likely be ok or too hot? I'd very much appreciate some feedback before I move forward with my trip. Thanks!

It all depends on hoe you deal with humidity. I climbed in Chattanooga in August, but I love the heat and humidity. In june you can climb all you want but you'll be wise to chase shade... I'd suggest going to Sunset Rock as it gets shade for the morning and a lot of the afternoon.

In june the temps will be in the 90s and humidity will be 90%+. If you can handle that, come climb here, it's awesome. If not, try going a bit further north.

Sunset...yep. Best summertime craggin there is. In the hottest months ya just might wanna get up early and have your day done by the time the sun comes over the mountain in early to mid afternoon.

Sunset is good all summer. It is much higher elevation than town. Deep Creek was also tolerable. Do sunset in the morning and deep creek in the afternoon and you will catch shade all day. You can actually stay all day at sunset by going behind a few of the buttress, like the dodge city area or backstreet revelations. Bring lots of bug spray and chalk! You can also DWS at lake Nikajack.

If you're from California like your profile says then I would not make a cross country trip to the south in June, July August, or early September

Thanks for all the replies. I very much appreciate it. Yes, I am from CA and had considered a trip to TN since I'm planning to visit a friend that lives nearby. You've given me lots of things to take into consideration!

Sunset is my vote too. If you got multiple days hit up north and south. In my opinion north has more to do in a closer area. great routes both sides though

Sunset, like everyone else said. Unfortunately T-wall would be too hot.

Deep creek would be a good option as well.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
