Miuras/sportivas fitting properly

I've looked on the Internet for the answer to my question, but I can't seem to find anything. My miuras fit snug in the toe and in the heel. They don't slip out during a heel hook, but they are still in the break-in phase. There seems to be too much material around the ankle and also on the top of the foot where the toes begin so that in each section it seems to bunch up. Is this okay? Do I need a smaller size? Am I tying them the right way? Should I tie them as tight as possible? I've read that the laces tend to blow out early, so I wasn't going to force it. I've seen people with the new geniuses that are also kind of bunched up in the toe box, but they were both at a gym where they just usually don't know what they're talking about, so I wasn't going to ask them. My shoes seem to be fine, but I was just wondering if this was a common thing, or if I just have an odd foot, or if I'm doing something wrong. This is my first pair of sportivas ever. Thanks!

Are they comfortable? From what i have heard the miuras are very baggy if not fitted tight this apparently doesn't effect their performance though.

I have a pair that I got as a semi-comfortable trad type shoe (toes barely curled) and they look the same as yours around the ankle and on top of the toe box. They are my first pair of Miuras and mine have not stretched too much at all but they have conformed to my foot some.

Rich, I believe the consensus is that 5.10s tend towards the wide side while Sportivas tend to be narrower...

Anyways, I do recall the weirdness of Miura laces, esp the ankle pocket/curling thing, but I have super low volume heels. I do recall it getting a little better as the shoes broke in.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
