Any info about camping near Reimer's Ranch outside Austin? Free is best, but pay sites could work.
Thanks.

Rock Dog Camping is the closest to Reimer's Ranch and is owned by climbers. It's on Hamilton Pool Road about 10 minutes from the park. It's basic camping with portable toilets, and last I heard is $5 per tent per night.

The old standard is county owned Pace Bend Park on Lake Travis. It's something like $15 per night for each primitive site, although there are improved sites, too. The drive is about 25-30 minutes from Reimers due to no direct route from one to the other even though it's literally downstream a few miles as the Pedernales River flows.

Wondering if there are any decent camping areas near by Reimer's ranch? It appears Rock Dog campground has closed. I saw Pace Bend, but seems like Austin is just as close.

Thanks

I’ve never climbed that way but just spent a few weeks right down the street from reimers ranch. Helped my boss build a wedding venue. It’s on 35 acres and has multiple cottages. Fully furnished with kitchens. If you are interested let me know. I’ll give you a number to call. He may even let you camp on the property. He rents out his cottages as over flow for other venues as well.

Bryson, Katie, I emailed you. Boss said he will rent out the property to anyone interested. Him and his wife are amazing people and would be open to making their lot available to the climbing community of the Austin area for those needing camping or housing near Reimer’s Ranch or other climbing locations. I don’t know how big of a destination the Ranch is but the country there is beautiful and wild. Hope this works out for all.

Joe, thank you so much for reaching out. Unfortunately I’ve been sick all week and have had to change plans for New Years but I will keep this place in mind for future trips!

Email sent. Let me know how it works out. Reconfirmed with my boss not long ago and he said to send people his way. Bud Light Just filmed a commercial there and weddings are booked all the time. Hopefully the climbing community in Texas can work together with the StoneHouse venue and build a nice area. There’s cottages that are still being added to the property and you guys can possibly work in a nice campground area with pits. From what I understand, this area is in need of some camping. He’s also in the works for building other cabins around town.

Hi Joe, we are looking to do a bit of climbing at Reimers over spring break and this camping option looks promising. I’m also interested in a cottage option. Can you please email me the contact info?

Free camping near Austin? I have never heard of such a thing, which is part of what's wrong with the whole state: No Public Lands near population.

Considering the popularity of this spot, I give you all the Golden Ticket. Keep in mind this is currently just a wedding venue. And it’s gaining popularity. I believe they have over 200 weddings booked this year so the few cottages they have are often taken. He also wouldn’t have anyone staying on the property during a wedding. So hopefully your plans don’t fall on wedding dates.  Perhaps with the more requests he gets he will be more motivated to open a separate area of his property for campers or he will buy more land for you guys!   I know that a few from here made it out not long ago and stayed under his awning during a storm. You guys hit a deer on the way in, correct? I hope you got some good climbing in and the damage wasn’t too bad.  Be aware when driving through Hill Country. The deer are more plentiful than rabbits.   Safe climbing everyone!

Are they still renting? Want to verify before calling!

Just a heads up, the wedding venue property was sold a year ago, and the current owners are no longer allowing camping on the property.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
