Trango Raptor ice pick help

I have the original version of raptors I bought used on here. I bought two picks from gear coop that were supposed to be the ice climbing one and not the mixed climbing, since that is what comes on them standard. I got the two pics today and they are not the same. Which one is the ice pick? The pick without the attached string/tag appears to be the same as what came on my tools.

Thanks

the one with less down turn should be the ice pick.

i used my new raptors (blue model) yesterday for the first time, they climbed really well!

The original orange Raptors were only available with one pick. Some people complained that the pick was too aggressive for climbing pure ice.

When the Raptor 2 (blue) was released, they announced two picks: Ice and Mixed. The Ice pick was designed from scratch and has a less aggressive angle than the Mixed pick. The Mixed pick IS the original pick available with the original Raptor and was simply re-branded as the "new" Mixed pick.

You received two non-matching picks. Keep the one with the attached tag - that is the Ice pick. The other is the Mixed.

It sounds like Gear Coop owes you another pick. That half inch (or so) in pick drop makes a huge difference in how these things work on ice. especially if you're on delicate ice or swing lightly.

If you don't have the two picks to compare directly, the ice pick has the "forward angled" teeth on the top of the pick; the mixed pick's top teeth are symmetrical.

Had the same thing happen from Moosejaw, but they sent me two mixed picks. I kept them for spares and ordered the ice picks directly from Trango.

My guess is that the labeling/product naming from the manufacturer isn't clear and confuses retailers. :-P

They certainly look very similar.

They told me I can either return one or both. Then I can order a new one. Ordering a new one will be twice the cost I paid plus shipping. They also don't know what pick I will get when I reorder. Doesn't seem like a good company to be selling something if they can't stand behind taking your money and know what they have sent to you.

Looks like the stein-pull teeth are slightly different on the Ice vs the Mixed pick. That might be an easy way to tell them apart.
